Stickybones: Most of the students have been using a Stickybones and have been really liking them. The Anibild THREE or the Aardman armature would work nicely.

There are quite a few pre-built Ball and Socket armatures available online, but keep in mind that they can also vary quite a bit in quality. They can also be quite expensive, especially if you have a custom one built. The Anibild ONE looks really simple and affordable.īall & Socket: A ball and socket armature is definitely the ideal type, they’re very resilient, the motions are focused on the joints (no spaghetti arms) and the joints can be tensioned. The wire gauge is really important, so test out which wires are strong enough yet flexible without kickback. There are lots of ways to make one, we really like this video by Edu Puertas Just remember, the better the armature, the less you’ll be fighting the puppet. And in all honesty for the Level 1 course, a wire armature is all you need. Some models provide digital focus in Dragonframe.

Capture JPG or TIFF images directly to the computer.

Depending on the model, you may have exposure controls, such as gain, brightness, etc.

Dragonframe will show a video preview using the webcam.

Create a new scene or open an existing scene.ĭragonframe will automatically detect it and connect to it.

Launch Dragonframe software on the computer.

Connect your webcam to your computer via a USB cable.

Make sure to test your camera with Dragonframe prior to purchasing a full license. UVC is a standard that most webcam manufacturers follow, and they usually list this in the product specifications. They can also be useful as a video assist for still cameras that do not have live view.ĭragonframe should support any UVC compatible (USB Video Class) webcam. Webcams are an inexpensive option for getting started with stop-motion animation.
